Band row
Back · Band · also biceps and the back of the shoulders
Set up
A resistance band and a solid anchor at chest height, like a door anchor in a shut door.
Steps
- Hold one end of the band in each hand, facing the anchor.
- Step back until the band is tight, arms straight in front of you.
- Pull your hands towards your ribs, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
- Let your arms straighten slowly, keeping some tension in the band.
Keep in mind
- Stand tall; don't lean back
- Elbows close to your sides
- Step closer to the anchor to make it easier
Common mistake
Shrugging your shoulders up to your ears. Keep them down and pull with your back.
Safety
Check the band for nicks or tears first. Make sure the anchor can't slip; if you use a door, keep it shut and locked.
Stop and rest if you feel chest pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath or sharp joint pain. Get medical help if it doesn't settle.
